Before shot of me, I’m really surprised I managed to jump, let go of the umbrella and suitcase, drop my shoes, and look half-way decent at the same time! I was expecting a lot of editing in things!

WARNING: This step is admittedly the most tedious part of this entire thing, you may want to flip on the TV or radio once you get the hang of erasing. The erasing alone took me about 45-60 minutes.

I chose to shoot in this spot because editing out my gate-house would be easier than editing me out of landscape. To edit the background out, I have found using the erasing tool to be the best. When erasing, there is no real yes or no way to do it, you have to do what works for you. What works for me is getting really close to the picture, zooming in until all I see are pixels, no real shapes, getting a medium size brush, say anywhere from 7-22, and erasing out everything that is not the colour of me or the props. Staying really close to edge of what ever you are editing out is the best. Try to get it perfect, but don’t erase to far into what ever you are cutting around, otherwise you loose natural shading, which is a pain to put back in.

As I said before, there is no right or wrong to doing this.  Do what works for you, and what you think looks good. If you make a small mistake, chances are people won’t notice. So don’t worry.
